Grand Strand Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc.
Grand Strand Golden Retriever Rescue (GSGRR) is an all volunteer group based in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. We are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless Golden Retrievers into the best homes possible to ensure their lifelong love and care. We belong to the National Rescue Committee of The Golden Retriever Club of America, and are an IRS approved 501(c)(3) non-profit Corporation. We are funded only by your donations, and they are tax-deductible. We also meet the requirements for corporate matching, employee giving and volunteer grant programs.

Our volunteers are constantly on the lookout for available purebred Goldens and Golden mixes. Many of our dogs are "pulled" from high kill shelters in North and South Carolina, where they have been abandoned or brought in by animal control. Many of these dogs have been abused, and almost all have been neglected their entire lives. Others have been surrendered by their owners. Our Goldens range in age from puppies to seniors, and we feel that each deserves a stable "forever" home where it can reach its full potential. Although we rescue Goldens and their mixed friends specifically, we do occasionally help Labs and others we call "Goldenhearts" who are in urgent need of care.

We operate through a network of passionate foster homes. Our volunteers are committed to our Goldens and to the humane treatment of all animals. We work to promote responsible pet ownership within the community through the advocacy of spay/neuter education. Together, we have many years of canine rescue experience, and the majority of these years have been a love affair with this wonderfully goofy breed called Golden Retrievers!

Darla and her sister Daphne-2 were surrendered by their owner. They had been purchased from a breeder for use as guard dogs, and were kept outside, secured to a tree by tow chains. The neighbor alerted the landlord, and together they convinced the owner that this was no way for these beautiful girls to live. We worked with all involved and the girls were surrendered. The girls were malnourished, unsocialized with people and animals, Daphne-2 was heartworm positive, and neither was spayed. They recovered wonderfully thanks to our volunteer fosters and both girls were adopted by wonderful GSGRR families. They are living the Golden Dream!
